Michelle Wey (@_michellewey_) is an artist and attorney who has lived in Sunnyside since 2018. She loves this neighborhood, especially the community garden and compost site on 45th Street. Michelle likes to paint abstract forms and landscapes that are somehow familiar or recognizable but not really definable. She likes oil paint because it lends itself to slow painting.

This work is part of a series made after the collapse of the World Trade Center, imagining the depth of life that persists under the earth, even after death.
