God’s Creation

Artist: Louisa Farrell

Louisa Farrell (@louisasfarrell) is an 18 year old artist who loves color. She lives in Sunnyside and has just started an undergraduate program in psychology at Hunter College. Art has become a new passion, which Louisa intends to pursue as well.

The process of creating a mandala is very repetitive and Louisa found it to be really therapeutic. So in that spirit, this work invited the question:

What are you doing in these times to find peace?

Here’s how our neighbors responded:

Connecting with others, whether it’s making new connections or strengthening old ones, brings me peace and hope that together, bit by bit, we can make a positive difference in this world.

Staring at your mandala for a while helped.

Doing process art, journaling, and gathering with friends.

I’ve discovered that it does me good to be near water. So I’ve gone down to the East River to watch it go by, and out to the North Shore to see the waves roll in.

Going on postcard walks with my dog, letting him sniff as long as he wants and wander until tired throughout the neighborhood. I let myself breathe, take in the sounds of the trees, the bees gathering their last bits of pollen, and hum little tunes. No technology allowed.
